Buying a Piggy and a beehive…
Today I bought a piglet and a bee hive.
You can do it, too. You don’t have to have a garden. Or a fancy outfit. You can do what I did and buy on for someone else.
In between doing book events in traditional books shops to promote my book, I Have and Orange Juicy Drink, I also like to do Oxfam Books in Beverley. It’s staffed by some of the lovliest people I’ve ever met – and I have a tradition every Christmas where 100% of whatever I raise is then given to Oxfam – This year it was enough to buy a piglet and a beehive for somewhere ins sub-Saharan Africa. The staff; John, Meg and Niamh were friendly, supportive, and if there’s any other independent writers and authors reading this, I can’t recommend doing an event like this highly enough.
Merry Christmas, everybody.
(P.S. I don’t know if there’s any farmers from sub-Saharan Africa reading this, but if you are, I’d quite like the piggy to be called Clyde.)
