JVenn Young Writers Awards Ceremony

I am fantastically excited to announce that this Thursday (28th February) I’ll be presenting Awards to a bunch of talented young folk at the JVenn Young Writers Awards Ceremony.

The long and the short of it is that the JVenn Foundation is a fantastic organisation that helps lots of young people in the Hull area become the best that they can be. They provide grants and support to help young learners follow their dreams and gain qualifications that will stand them in good stead for the rest of their lives.

This year, JVenn are sponsoring a writing competition for youngsters aged 7 to 14. With some artistic help from Sixth Formers at Wilberforce College, the poems and stories of these young people have been illustrated and transformed into a real, live, actual book.

And it just so happens that they wanted a super successful, talented and charismatic author to help present the awards and offer plenty of deep and poignant insight. Unfortunately, no one matching that description was available, so they gave me a call instead, and I said I’d be more than happy to do it.

I’ve already caught a sneak peek of the finished book, and whilst I don’t want to spoil anything by mentioning too many specifics, I will say it’s incredibly annoying to see a young bunch of authors and illustrators who are so damned talented that I give it another 5 years before they’re put me out of a job…

In truth, I can’t wait to meet the fantastic young minds that have come up with the content for the 2019 JVenn Writers Anthology, and I’m sure the night is going to be a fantastic success. So, a big thank you to the JVenn Foundation!

Hey, I could totally pull off a bow tie. Shut up.
