2026 April – Molescroft Primary School Visit

So, this week I went into Molescroft Primary School for a wonderful day with four different age groups.

I had great fun with Foundation Year, helping them develop a story based on THE POWER OF REPETITION.

FOR THOSE OF YOU NOT LISTENING, I SAID THE POWER OF REPETITION.

With Year Ones, we looked at how planning a story helps the development of narrative, and there were some wonderful bad-guys designed by the 5 year olds, including a moustache-twirling skeleton.

I had a great time with the Year Twos drawing Mr May as Poseidon, God of the Sea, complete with broom – sorry- I mean, TRIDENT, and we rounded it off by developing some punchy Pocket Poetry with the Year Threes which helped with self-image and affirmation.

It’s been a wonderful day, and it was great to finish it off with a whole-school assembly based on my all-new Choose Your Own Adventure Story, (working title) The Sandwich of Doom.

Did I waste 15 minutes of the school’s time by getting 400 kids to vote on whether to set up a mango custard farm or become Yak farmers? Did I fritter away precious time in an educational setting, getting kids to choose between buttering a postman’s face or running away from a policeman? Or did I teach them about the power of choice and how you sometimes have to go down the wrong path to get to the right answer.

I don’t know. But a kid came up to me in the park afterwards and said ‘Oi. That assembly was awesome,’ so I’m hoping it was the latter.
